Steps To Apply

Step 1: Inquire

If you are interested in learning if CDS is the right fit for your child, please complete our online Inquiry Form and our Admission Director will contact you within 24 hours.


Step 2: Personal tour

Visiting Community Day School is the best way to discover the dynamic community and academic vitality that make CDS a special place. During your personal tour, you will see our buildings and campus in action, visit classes, and meet teachers, administrators, and students. You also will talk with Admission Director Sarah DeWitt, who will discuss our curriculum, explain a “day in the life of a CDS student," and answer your questions. Please contact Sarah at 412-521-1100, Ext. 2114 or to arrange a tour—or fill out the Inquiry Form and she will be in touch with you to schedule a visit.


Step 3: Submit an application

Applications for the 2019-2020 academic year are now being accepted. Click here to apply online.


Step 4: Readiness assessment or visit day

All applicants will be invited to visit CDS to help our faculty get to know your child. Applicants to preschool and kindergarten participate in a school visit in our classrooms, which enables our teachers to observe how each child interacts in a group setting and provides insights about a young child's readiness to attend Community Day School. Applicants in Grades 1-7 spend a full day at the school with their grade level participating in regularly scheduled activities.


Step 5: Welcome to CDS!

CDS mails acceptance letters in February, and enrollment contracts and deposits are due in early March.
